So let's start!
About a year ago I wanted to dye my hair PINK like this.

I wanted my hair to be pastel pink. So I bleached and dyed my hair a few times. I know that when bleaching you need to let your hair rest for a month or so before bleaching it again and I didn't exactly do that. I bleached and dyed my hair in two weeks time. I wanted fast results! Now I'm full of regrets. :(
My hair didn't turn pink like i wanted it to. See that frizz and tangles? Frustrating! It was too ambitious for a lazy girl like me, because bleached and dyed hair demand time and responsibility.
Months passed my hair grew longer and it was getting worse and worse. The damage was so visible that I decided to dye my hair black just to cover the dryness. Or so I thought but it got much worse. My hair was so frizzy and unmanageable even combing it won't do anything. I made sure that my hair products has Keratine in it but my hair was too damaged it was not enough.
I found lots of vlogs on youtube showing how they were able to conquer their battle with hair damage and most of their advice was to "invest a little more to treat damaged hair". Use drugstore hair product that promotes hair wellness. At first I was hesitant because I tried lots of drugstore treatments before and already spent too much but nothing worked. But this girl was desperate so I decided to give it a try. AGAIN! But this time I chose the products well. But before that, let's first talk about how we damage our hair without knowing it.
THE 4 MAJOR CAUSES OF HAIR DAMAGE (read the original post on this site for more details)
- Physical Damage - hair ties, braiding, ponytails, buns, detangling, styling, brushing, combing
- Chemical Damage - relaxers, rebonding, bleaching, coloring, highlights, heat from flat irons and blow dryers
- Environmental Damage - strong sun, wind, cold air, temperature, change of air humidity
- Nutritional Damage - improper nutrition, stress, on medication, health condition
That sums up, I guess? Well anyway, a few weeks ago I was able to visit a local drugstore and had the chance to grab some "way-out-of-the-budget-hair-products"-thanks hubby! hehehe- and here's what I got!
L'OREAL PARIS TOTAL REPAIR 5
I purchased both the shampoo and conditioner just to complete the combo, because I feel that if I would not purchase both of them they won't work, or "together, much better" (whaaat?)Anyway, on one of the vlogs that I saw on youtube, she advised to just apply and massage the shampoo on the scalp area ONLY, enough to remove the dirt and oil lurking in there. Rinse once massaged all over and then apply conditioner on the ends of the hair. Do not include the part that you had shampooed. I don't know why but it does work.
When I run my fingers on my scalp down to the ends of my hair it feels so soft and warm. This combo works for me and is amazing.
By the way, I wash my hair everyday. I know it's not good for your hair to be washed that more often but I live in a tropical country where it's hot most of the days in a year, so occasional sweating on a daily basis is normal not to mention that I easily sweat, a lot!(Not a good combo right? I know.) So it's a must for me to wash my hair daily.
------------------------------------
DOVE HAIRTHERAPY: DAILY HAIR VITAMIN
So after I towel dry my hair I apply one of these. This costs around $2 or 100 php here in my country. Comes with 6 capsules to be used daily. It has Vitamin E that nourishes dry hair, Botanical Extract that prevents hair breakage and Mineral Oil that helps protect hair from more damage. Is this greasy? A big NO!
I'm on my 2nd blister now and i don't know what it does exactly on the physical appearance of my hair but what I do know is it's helping my hair get those proper nutrients that it badly needs? So yup! I'm still rooting for this.
*By the way, when towel drying your hair avoid doing that rubbing motion coz that also causes damage to our hair.
-----------------------------
BREMOD LEAVE-IN CONDITIONER
This is my most favorite. Leave-in conditioner.Unlike conditioners that we typically use in the shower, leave-in conditioner is applied afterwards and left in our hair until the next washing. I use this moments after I apply my Dove Daily Hair Vitamin when it's still partially wet.
This helps detangle my strands easily, reduce unwanted fly-aways and tame my frizzy unmanageable hair, and locks moisture too.
This works for any type of hair. (I have curly hair.~~~~)
I once tried skipping this part to see if it really works, well my hair was still manageable and smooth without it but it's still a little bit frizzy. So I really make sure I put this on my hair after I wash it.
Once I finish this bottle I'll probably try other brands as well. But this brand really works!
Now I'm on my 2nd week of my "Hair Treatment Regimen" and I must say it's not that bad anymore. Here's what it looks now. As you can see the damage is still there but thankfully it's waaaaay better.
The products I used did make my hair smooth, manageable, and shiny. Less tangle and frizz, lesser breakage. Now I'm just hoping that this will be a good start for a damage-free hair. Can't wait!

They say that if the damage has been done to your hair it can not be undone so think twice before doing anything that will cause more damage. The best thing to do is to make sure that your growing your hair healthy and you are minimizing the damage. It's still best to find hair products that suits you, so don't be afraid to try other brands as well.
